The Inspiration
Trying to live up to the "Million Dollar Homepage". Probably might even create something better. Consider joining in for the ride.
In 2005, Alex Tew started a unique project called "The Million Dollar Homepage" to fund his university education. His project focussed on selling a million pixels of advertising space on his website for a dollar each to anyone willing to advertise or even simply wanting to help fund his studies. He successfully sold all the pixels in early 2006 and left a mark on internet history.
While "The Million Dollar Homepage" project was popular due to the media attention and provided a very lucrative opportunity for advertisers to showcase their advertisements to the millions of regular people visiting the website for its popularity, there is another reason for its success (at least according to my opinion).
Alex did not necessarily ask for charity blindly and expected strangers to donate their hard-earned money. Alternatively, he provided value to the people who were willing to buy his product/service in the form of an ad space. Although, I must not forget to mention many people could have gotten nothing from the said advertisement space, and would have contributed purely to the cause. My greatest respects to them.
